About Me

Hi, I’m Ashley, and I’m The Accidental Teacher. I know firsthand how challenging it can be to balance the demands of a classroom, the needs of a family, and everything in between. Teaching is rewarding, but it’s hard. Parenting is joyful, but it’s also exhausting. And trying to do both? Well, that’s a whole other level of juggling.

My Story

Before I became a teacher, I was a stay-at-home mom — and it was one of the hardest jobs I’ve ever had. Every day was filled with tasks that often felt repetitive, invisible, and never-ending. There were moments when I lost sight of myself, unsure if I was doing enough or if anyone even noticed the work I was putting in. The emotional and physical load was heavy, and sometimes I felt isolated, like I was carrying it all alone.

Over time, I began to find my rhythm. I learned, adapted, and discovered the small victories that brought meaning to the chaos. I began to love this work, even in its challenges, and realized just how much effort, patience, and heart it truly takes to raise children with love and consistency.

When I started working outside the home, the balance became much harder. Juggling a career while staying committed to my family brought new challenges, and I struggled to find my footing again. It was a season of learning, adapting, and discovering how much energy it takes to show up fully both at home and at work.

Stepping into the classroom added another layer of understanding. I saw firsthand how children struggle when they don’t have a parent who is present, consistent, and willing to do the hard work. That experience deepened my empathy and respect for teachers. I now see the immense load they carry — emotionally, mentally, and physically — and I understand just how much impact one caring adult can have. My heart goes out to every teacher showing up day after day for kids and families, often without the recognition they deserve.

Why I Created The Accidental Teacher

I started this space to support other teachers and moms who are navigating life with intention, care, and heart. My goal is simple: to provide guidance, encouragement, and practical strategies that help you feel confident, capable, and empowered — whether you’re in the classroom, at home, or trying to manage it all at once. Here, you’ll find tips that work in real life, reflections that normalize the challenges, and inspiration for celebrating small victories every day. This space is about making life a little more manageable, a little more joyful, and a lot more supported. Because the truth is, doing it all is hard — but you don’t have to do it alone

A Little About Me Beyond Teaching and Mom Life

When I’m not teaching or creating for The Accidental Teacher, I’m enjoying time with my family, sipping coffee in quiet moments, and finding joy in the small victories each day. I know life can be messy, overwhelming, and beautiful all at once—and that’s exactly what I hope to honor, celebrate, and help you navigate here.
